Classic Albums - The Same Sky.

Classic Albums - The Same Sky.

In 1989, I heard a track called, ‘You Could Be Forgiven’ on The Chart Show. It was performed by a band called Horse and it absolutely blew me away. Fortunately, I had been recording the programme, so I had the song to keep. But the bad news was that I continued to play it so many times that it wore out the video tape.

After hunting around for the band’s music for over a year, I finally found their debut album, ‘The Same Sky’. It had been well worth the wait.

Horse (also the singer’s name) has got one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard. Words really cannot do it justice and the nearest comparisons which come to mind are Alison Moyet or Cleo Laine. The range and power in her vocals literally send a shiver down your spine. Her music cannot be categorised very easily; it has touches of many genres including Jazz, Pop, Blues and Rock. But, saying that, it is still none of these.

Every track on this album is an absolute corker and it flows, completely and effortlessly, from beginning to end. Five of the ten tracks were actually released as singles, but I doubt they got much airplay. I don’t know why it is, but Horse (band and singer) are rarely ever mentioned in the music scene. This is a complete mystery to me because their songs are so obviously brimming over with talent. I suppose it is all down to insufficient marketing.

After ‘The Same Sky’, the band released a second album, but then they decided to split. Since then, Horse (the singer) has gone on to record another six albums as a solo artist; all of which feature some truly beautiful songs. However, ‘The Same Sky’ is still her greatest achievement as a whole album.

It is incredibly frustrating that a singer of Horse’s calibre is still relatively unheard of. There is so much stuff around that is not a patch on her music and yet she is still very much confined to the background.

I need some collaboration on this one, I was talking to my sister the other day and she asked me to visit this site on Smartlipo. I believe she is actually considering getting this done. How do I approach the subject of saying that she really doesn’t need this and she should try a natural substitute of taking off weight first?
