Examinations 2011

What I see every day is a mass of worried people as the examinations in the UK universities have already started. And I both like and dislike what I see - the stress, the motivation coupled with more stress, the excitement coupled with stess and more stress and so on. It is just a good thing to observe but at the same time a demotivating experience to go through.

Why is it motivating? Well seeing so many people studying hard in campus liabriries is just making me realise that it is the work that matters and this is what would get you a good degree, eventually a good job, and prospectively a good life in the future. So seeing so many people doing the right thing is motivation for every one - you know that education is the oldest and most advanced competition where you compete with everyone for the position you would like to get. Is there something more inspiring than that? I think there is NOT!.

However, the stress around examinations is what bothers the most of people in universities. ’What if I do not make it?’, ’What if the others do so much better than me?’, ’Do I have time to reach a first class degree?'and so on. These persistent questions that we ask ourselves and all these thoughts that go though our heads for only a minute (surprisingly how quick we can think when it comes to calculating the bad outcomes and the negative possibilities, huh?) stress us up so much that we forget what we were studying on in this particular minute.

So what do we do? My personal advice to all students out there is that the best we can do is dedicate to the study itself and forget about the stress. Stressing or not, this is not going to make us study more or remember more solidly. We will still need the time to consome the tons of information we need to. At the edn of the day, we will all go to Fitness Singles after the exams and relax - so the relaxation after that I use to discharge all the stress I am diligently collecting now.
